I defy anyone to listen to this CD and not break out into spontaneous smiling followed by shame because YOU didn’t write these songs….utter brilliance
Echo & The Bunnymen - Heaven Up Here Echo & The Bunnymen
Heaven up Here
You can’t really go wrong with any Bunnies Album up through ‘Ocean Rain’…I picked this one today, tomorrow it might have been a different one. NOTE: This one is a bit on the moodier side of things…definitely ‘edgy’, but don’t expect to do a lot of dancing to this one.
The Teardrop Explodes - Kilimanjaro/Wilder The Teardrop Explodes
Kilimanjaro/Wilder
ok, I guess they packaged up 2 albums (that’s what they USED to call them) on one CD. There is some amazingly pure pop music contained here – highly recommend this
The Best of Sad Lovers and Giants The Best of Sad Lovers & Giants
Happiness! A not-so-well-known band that made some really neat music back in the early 80’s. I normally don’t like ‘Best Of’ stuff, but this is really all there is on CD from these guys. I’d describe there sound as ‘delightful pop music with a mellow undertone…
The Very Best of The Undertones The Undertones
The Very Best of the Undertones

oooh oooh oooh!! Read what I wrote about the Buzzcocks, then multiply that by 3!
The Kinks: Kronicles The Kinks
Kronicles
You don’t already own this collection by the most under-rated band in history??? Shame on you!

The Clash - London Calling The Clash
London Calling
I imagine this is where I first heard ska. The Clash are like the Velvet Underground, not many people bought their albums, but everyone who did started their own band.
Joe Jackson - Look Sharp Joe Jackson
Look Sharp!
How would I have made it through High School without this album? Sheer angst. And the best bass I have ever heard.
The Specials - The Specials The Specials
The Specials
I think I would still be happy playing in a Specials tribute band. This album combines boisterous frenetic barroom ska with bittersweet songs. A synthesis I have been pursuing all my life.
The Beatles - White Album The Beatles
The White Album
I like this album because you can really hear the Beatles falling apart. The tension between McCartney and Lennon is palpable. And it sounds like they are both trying really hard to keep their musical visions afloat.

The Scorpions - Love at First Sting The Scorpions
Love at First Sting

The album I learned how to play guitar to... ahhh, good ol' power chords. Cool screaming Germans in there too!
Ozzy Osbourne/Randy Rhodes - Tribute Ozzy Osbourne/Randy Rhodes
Tribute
The album where I learned how to play more than just power chords... I graduated to riffs!
Metallica - Master of Puppets Metallica
Master of Puppets
A truly groundbreaking album... how did these guys not get tired playing so fast all the time?
Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime Queensryche
Operation: Mindcrime
Kinda sci-fi, kinda James Bondish, very rocking and very well put-together album.
Def Leppard - Pyromania Def Leppard
Pyromania
This is my nod to the contribution of English artists in the 80s heavy metal scene... Judas Priest or Iron Maiden could also be right here, except that they didn't write the song "Foolin".
