Alumni Notes

Periodically, we here at Soup, Inc. will be checking in on our Alums. Once you are part of the Beat Soup family, you can never really leave, and so in that spirit, we give you our first installment of the Beat Soup Alumni files.
Band Member:
Zack Herman
Position Held:
Drummer
Soup Tenure:
1992 - 1996
Post-Soup Life Summary:

We wish things had turned out better for Zack. He left under a cloud of suspicion in the early part of 1996. At the time, his name was surfacing in connection with several anti government plots, and we just felt that it wasn’t in the interest of the Band to promote that sort of activity

It was a sad day when we gave him his walking papers. His short term concern was that he would no longer be able to sleep in the rehearsal complex, but the long term outlook was even more bleak. Thoughts of getting a job and carving out an honest living were so foreign to Zack that it made integration into conventional society nearly impossible. Today, you can find Zack in the Park Street subway station. He’s the pathetic looking one with the 3 piece drum kit earning cigarette money by playing Beat Soup covers.

Band Member: Mike Brick
Position Held:
Trombone
Soup Tenure:
1992 - 1992
Post-Soup Life Summary:

Mike really bottomed out after getting kicked out of Beat Soup. Booze, drugs, and sudden spontaneous trips to Jamaica were his downfall. In his prime, Mike was one of the first (if not the first) trombone players to join Beat Soup. To his credit, Mike is responsible for the horn lines that appear on the song "Peace", but success like that obviously took its toll. Today, Mike can occasionally be found sitting in on Zack’s Park St. gig, although it’s pathetic watching him take the threats and physical intimidation that Zack constantly dishes out.
Well, that’s it for now. Keep checking for future installments and remember - there are no ex-members of Beat Soup whose history can’t be re-written to suit our needs...
